ہماری یاداشت کمزور نہیں مگر پھر بھی بہت سارے واقعات لمحات جو ہم پر برا بھیانک اثر ڈال چکے ہیں اور نا جانے کب تک بھیانک خواب کی طرح ہماری نیندیں حرام کرتے رہیں۔ سب سے زیادہ تباہی مچانے والا طوفان ہم پر مسلط کیا گیا نظام (سسٹم) ہے جس کا کبھی بھی عوام سے تعلق نہیں رہا جبکہ ہم ایک سنے سنائے لفظ سے ضرور آشنا ہیں یعنی چند الفاظ کو جوڑ کر ایک لفظ بنانے کی کوشش کی گئ جسے جمہوریت کہا جاتا ہے۔ جمہوریت ایک ایسا نظام ہے جس میں طاقت عوام کے پاس ہوتی ہے اور وہ اس طاقت کو براہ راست یا منتخب نمائندوں کے ذریعے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔  یہ مساوات انفرادی حقوق اور قانون کی حکمرانی کو فروغ دیتا ہے۔  جمہوری نظام میں حکومت عوام کے سامنے جوابدہ ہوتی ہے اور شہریوں کو ووٹنگ اور دیگر ذرائع سے تقریر اسمبلی اور فیصلہ سازی کے عمل میں حصہ لینے کی آزادی ہوتی ہے۔  جمہوری حکومتوں میں عام طور پر متعدد سیاسی جماعتیں اور آزاد ادارے ہوتے ہیں تاکہ چیک اینڈ بیلنس کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔ جمہوریت وطن عزیز میں ایک ایسے بھونڈے مذاق کو کہا جاتا ہے جس کا نشانہ صرف اور صرف عوام ہوتے ہیں۔
